PeakFlow stopped working after an update? Turn Accessibility back on

If SnapGrid stops moving windows, or FocusDim, snippets or dictation stop working after you update PeakFlow, macOS has forgotten PeakFlow’s Accessibility permission. The switch in System Settings still looks on, but it belongs to the version you had before. Remove PeakFlow from the Accessibility list and add it again. It takes four clicks, and you may need to do it after each update.

Short answer: open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. Select PeakFlow and click −, click +, choose PeakFlow in Applications, then switch it on.

Remove PeakFlow and add it again

Open System Settings, click Privacy & Security, then click Accessibility. In PeakFlow, the Open Settings button takes you straight there.

In the Accessibility list, select PeakFlow and click −. If PeakFlow is there more than once, remove each one.

PeakFlow checks by itself and shows All set when the permission works again. If a tool still doesn’t respond, quit PeakFlow from its menu bar icon and open it again.

Why does macOS forget PeakFlow?

macOS ties each permission to the exact copy of an app you approved. PeakFlow doesn’t have an Apple developer signature yet, so macOS treats each update as a new app. It keeps the switch for the old copy and doesn’t trust the new one. Removing PeakFlow and adding it again gives the permission to the version you have now.

PeakFlow is in the list more than once

Each update can leave an old PeakFlow in the list. Select each one and click − until none are left, then add PeakFlow once with +.

Dictation stopped hearing you

Dictation also needs the Microphone. If it stops after an update, open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and switch PeakFlow off, then on again.

In the Microphone list, switch PeakFlow off, then on again.

Still not working?

Email contact@getpeakflow.pro and say which tool stopped and which macOS version you have. In PeakFlow, Settings > Help > Send a bug report adds the log lines we need.

Opening PeakFlow for the first time? macOS asks you to click Open Anyway once. Here’s how.
