AI dictation that types where your cursor is

Hold a key, speak, and let go. OpenAI's gpt-transcribe turns what you said into text, and PeakFlow types it into the app you are using.

About a tenth of a cent per dictationCredit never expiresTop-ups from US$5

Short answer: PeakFlow AI Dictation runs on OpenAI's gpt-transcribe and is billed by the second, at cost. A sentence or two costs about a tenth of a cent, so 100 dictations a workday come to about US$2.45 a month. You add prepaid credit from US$5, which covers over 100,000 words, and the credit never expires. It is separate from the 30-day trial and from Pro.
Hold

Hold a key, talk, let go

The words are typed where your cursor is, in any app. Dictation turns on once you add credit, and you can switch it off any time.

  • Hold fn on a Mac or Right Ctrl on Windows, or pick any modifier or function key
  • A clip can be up to 10 minutes long, and you can dictate up to 3 hours a day
  • One licence works on 2 devices
The Dictation panel switched on: the hold key set to fn, the balance and the US$5, US$10 and US$20 top-up picker.
Clean-up

Cleaner text, and your own words

A light clean-up removes um and uh, adds punctuation and applies a clear correction such as "no wait". It does not rewrite what you said.

  • If the clean-up drops a not, a number or a word from My words, your raw words are typed instead, unless you corrected yourself
  • My words: list names and terms you use, one per line
  • Write X -> Y to always replace one word with another
The Dictation settings screen: the clean-up switch and the My words row.
Price

Priced at cost

OpenAI charges PeakFlow US$0.0045 a minute of audio for gpt-transcribe. You pay US$0.0057 a minute, billed by the second. The difference pays the card fee on your top-up and the server that passes each clip to OpenAI. There is no profit margin on top and no monthly plan.

What PeakFlow AI Dictation costs a month (22 workdays, a sentence or two per dictation)
Dictations a workdayWords a dayPeakFlow a month
50about 1,250US$1.23
100about 2,500US$2.45
200about 5,000US$4.91

Subscriptions cost the same however little you dictate: Superwhisper Pro is $7.08 to $8.49 a month, Aqua Voice Pro $10 to $12, and Wispr Flow Pro and Willow Voice Pro $12 to $15. A dictation here is a sentence or two, about 25 words: around 10 seconds of talking plus a second of holding the key. By our estimate that costs about a tenth of a cent with clean-up, or about 4.5 cents per 1,000 words. Subscription prices are from each company's pricing page on 25 October 2026, and the lower figure is the yearly plan. Those plans are unlimited, so they only cost less if you dictate more than about 290 times every workday (Superwhisper's yearly plan) or about 610 times (Wispr Flow's $15 plan).

How accurate is it? In Artificial Analysis's independent speech-to-text test, gpt-transcribe got 3.3% of words wrong, the lowest of OpenAI's models and lower than every Whisper Large v3 service tested. Wispr Flow does not say which speech model it uses, so it is not in that test.

Questions

Anything else? Email contact@getpeakflow.pro and a real person will reply.

Is Dictation included in the free trial or in Pro?
No. Dictation is separate from the 30-day trial and from Pro. You pay for it with prepaid top-ups from US$5.
How much does it cost?
US$0.0057 a minute of talking (US$0.342 an hour), billed by the second. That is OpenAI's price for gpt-transcribe plus the card fee and server cost, with no profit margin. A dictation of a sentence or two costs about a tenth of a cent, and light clean-up adds a little, metered the same way. US$5 covers over 100,000 words. Top-ups are US$5, US$10 or US$20, and the full amount becomes credit that never expires.
Which AI model does it use?
OpenAI's gpt-transcribe turns your speech into text. With a top-up, clean-up uses OpenAI's gpt-6-luna. If you use your own OpenAI key and it can't use gpt-transcribe, the app uses gpt-4o-mini-transcribe instead.
How does it compare with Wispr Flow?
Both type what you say into any app on Mac and Windows and tidy fillers and self-corrections. Wispr Flow is a subscription: 2,000 words a week free on desktop, then $15 a month or $12 billed yearly, and it also runs on iPhone and Android. PeakFlow has no free words and no phone app, but you pay only for what you say: 100 dictations of a sentence or two each workday cost about US$2.45 a month. See the full comparison.
Can I use my own OpenAI key instead?
Yes. Add your OpenAI key in the Dictation settings and clips go straight to OpenAI on your key. OpenAI bills you, at about 1 cent for every 2 minutes of talking.
Where does my audio go?
With a top-up, each clip goes to PeakFlow's server, which sends it to OpenAI to turn into text. The server's code does not save the audio. It records the seconds each clip used. With your own key, the clip goes straight to OpenAI. On a Mac, up to 400 characters of the text before your cursor go with the audio as spelling hints. When clean-up is on, the transcript text and the name of the app you are typing in are also sent to OpenAI to tidy it. You can turn clean-up off with the Clean up as you go switch in Dictation settings.
What if a dictation does not go through?
The app keeps the clip for 30 minutes, and a Try again button sends it again.
